As of 7 August 2026, the direct ICE service from Berlin via Frankfurt to Paris is not available for the full journey. Deutsche Bahn says the trains are temporarily operating only between Frankfurt and Paris.
Why the direct service is interrupted
Deutsche Bahn attributes the interruption to technical problems with the European train protection system supplied by Alstom. This system is required for the ICE trains used on the direct Berlin–Paris route.
Berlin–Paris journeys remain possible
Passengers travelling from or to Berlin, Halle and Erfurt can still reach Paris with a change in Frankfurt or Mannheim. Deutsche Bahn says up to nine connections per day remain available between Berlin and Paris.
Check the timetable before travelling
The situation is temporary and may change. Travellers should check the current connection in DB Navigator or on bahn.de shortly before departure and allow enough time for the transfer.
Passengers arriving at or departing from a Berlin station can pre-book a private transfer to a hotel, home, airport or business address. The train number and planned arrival time should be provided when booking.
