Deutsche Bahn plans to open the new Fangschleuse station in stages in August 2026. RE1 trains towards Frankfurt (Oder) are scheduled to stop there from 15 August. Trains towards Berlin are expected to call at the station from 24 August.
Direction-specific opening dates
The two directions will not start on the same day because a final software update is required for the new electronic signal box. Passengers should therefore check the direction and current timetable before travelling.
Restrictions at Berkenbrück
At Berkenbrück, trains towards Berlin are due to stop again from 15 August. In the direction of Frankfurt (Oder), rail replacement services are planned until 29 November while technical adjustments continue.
Further work along the route
Platforms at Berkenbrück, Jacobsdorf and Pillgram are being extended to 220 metres so that longer eight-car trains can stop there from mid-December. Construction also continues at Berlin-Köpenick and Hirschgarten during the closure of the long-distance tracks until 24 August.
Travellers should check DB Navigator or bahn.de shortly before departure. A private transfer can also be booked in advance for journeys between Berlin stations, hotels, homes, BER Airport and destinations in Brandenburg.
